On January 1st, 2024, Da Nang International Terminal became the first and only terminal in Vietnam to be certified as a 5-star terminal by Skytrax, the global airport and terminal rating agency.

It came nine months after the terminal received a 4-star rating from Skytrax thanks to its efforts in improving facilities and services to enhance passenger experience, according to Do Trong Hau, deputy general director of the Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Company. According to Skytrax standards and rating criteria, the terminal’s amenities that are highly appreciated include business class lounges, baby strollers, children's play areas, shopping carts, prayer rooms, self-baggage drop and self check-in counters.

By the end of last year, there were only 19 airports and three airport terminals in the world rated 5 stars by Skytrax. 

“This achievement is a great pride for our terminal. However, it would not be possible to achieve this without the support and continuous effort of the local authorities and operational units. Besides, we also want to express our sincere gratitude to Border Gate Police for helping us utilize the entry and exit processing times and to the Customs Office for their "Customs Smile" which is committed to creating a welcoming, professional, and efficient atmosphere for passengers,” said Mr. Do Trong Hau

Apart from the Skytrax rating, Da Nang International Terminal also became the first in Southeast Asia to receive the Welcome Chinese certification in December 2023, which recognized its efforts to upgrade services to satisfy Chinese travelers. The terminal has been awarded a Gold ranking, which is the highest among the three grades - Silk, Jade, and Gold - of the Welcome Chinese certificate issued by the Beijing-based research organization China Tourism Academy under the China National Tourism Administration.

Although the terminal has achieved the highest rankings on various global scales, according to Mr. Do Trong Hau, there are still numerous opportunities for ongoing development and enhancement. Therefore, in 2024, all investment plans and upcoming projects will continue to focus on delivering ever-improving experiences for travelers, ensuring a continuous alignment with global quality standards and criteria.
