Danang- Cambodia: The cooperation opportunity for tourism development

At the end of October 2019, Cambodia Angkor Air will operate new flight route Phnom Penh – Danang with a frequency of 5 flights per week using ATR72 aircraft (flight route Siem Reap – Danang previously) to contribute to the connection, tourism development, cultural exchange between Cambodia and Vietnam in general, as well as Danang city in specific.

On August 5th 2019 evening at Han River Hotel, an event had been conducted to introduce Cambodia’s tourism products to travel agencies, hotels, tourist agents at Danang city, hosted by Cambodia Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with Danang Administration of Tourism.

At the event, Representative of Cambodia Ministry of Tourism introduced the destinations, tours, travel routes and tourism products of Cambodia; information related to development plan in the near future of this country. According to Mr. Prak Chandara – Head Inspector of Cambodia Ministry of Tourism claimed that Danang was a potential destination for Cambodian tourists. Cambodia’s tourism is rapidly expediting tourists exchange as well as encouraging caravan to Danang using Middle of Central Highlands route to increase tourist amount from Danang, as well as to connect, expand domestically and foreign area, to contribute to further cohesion in tourism development of Laos – Vietnam – Cambodia. On the other hand, operating new direct flights will decrease tour charges, assist more Cambodia tourists to Danang, Danang’s tourist and Vietnam will have more opportunities to visit Cambodia using entrance from Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh – Vice Director of Danang Administration of Tourism, at the time being there were plenty direct flights from Danang to Asian Countries as well as transfer flights to Europe and America, including route Danang – Siem Reap. Thereon, Danang will be an important link for tourism of East – West Economic Corridor – connecting Indochina to the world. 

Expect from October 27th 2019, Cambodia Angkor Air will operate new flight route Phnom Penh – Danang with a frequency of  flights per week using ATR72 aircraft on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays every week, has a long-term plan to increase frequency and aircraft upgrade to A320 aircraft from Winter Schedule 2020 – create diversified products for tourists from/to Danang as well as Phnom Penh via Danang entrance. This creates opportunity to attract more tourists from Cambodia – people who wil then continue the journet to other Asian and European countries using transfer flights.

Cambodia Angkor Air is currently operating 4 flight routes between Cambodia and Vietnam with a total amount of 112 flights/week; including route Siem Reap – Danang with the frequency of 1 flight/day, contributing to the connection, tourism development, cultural exchange between Cambodia and Vietnam in general as well as Danang city in specific.
